Zion Lutheran Church
Serving the Community, Providing Hope in Christ
About Us
About Zion
God’s love for us is so great.  In our
lives He gives us many great and
wonderful blessings.  One of those
blessings that God gives us is a
Church Home.  For over 100 years
God has brought together His
Children at Zion Lutheran Church,
gathering them around His Word and
His Sacraments, giving His
forgiveness richly to people who so
desperately need it.
Zion was founded in 1902 by
German immigrants who knew
that they needed God’s
forgiveness.  The present
Sanctuary was built in 1908 and
has been a place where God’s
Word has been preached since
then.  To this day God has
continued to bless this
Congregation, and through its
members God has blessed
Lahoma and the surrounding
communities.
Today, the life here at Zion still revolves around God
gathering us together on Sunday mornings for worship.
Worship happens weekly at 10:45 AM, with additional
services during the week on Holidays and during Advent
and Lent.  We also gather together to study God’s Word,
on Sunday mornings at 9:30 for Sunday School and
Adult
Bible Class, and also at various times during the week.
Although our Preschool has had to close, we
still do have a love of children - this is part of
our heritage that we will always cherish - and if
the Lord provides the opportunity, perhaps it
will be our honor to teach children during the
week once again in the future.
We also have several groups in the congregation which gather to serve, learn of God’s Will, and
to grow in the faith.  One of these is our youth group, where our students enjoy the blessings
that God has given them.  Another is our Ladies Aid, where the adult women of the Church focus
on projects to aid and help our neighbors.  Our Mens’ Club prepares our annual Groundhog
Supper in February, which is a community favorite.  We also have a friendship circle, which
sponsors various activities in the Congregation.  In the summers, we host a Vacation Bible
School, and during the School year we host The ROCK, an after-school program designed to
provide the children of Lahoma a safe place to play and get help for homework once a week every
Wednesday after school.
God is indeed gracious and good, and gives us friends and neighbors to enjoy life with – but chiefly
He gives us the gift of the forgiveness of our sin through Christ Jesus our Lord.  Please consider
yourself invited to see all the ways in which God blesses His people here at Zion Lutheran Church in
Lahoma.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Pastor Brown at Seven Nine Six, Two Two
Four Three.  We hope to see you soon, so that you too might delight with us in the forgiveness of
sin we have in Christ Jesus our Lord.
